Spectacular singing at schools festival

Congratulations to our junior choir who sang at the GLF Music Festival on Thursday. They sang loud and proud! Thank you to Mrs Hilton and Mr Welch who have worked hard with the children to ensure the songs about strength and our school value of courage were particularly poignant.

One song that all the schools performed was written by a Y8 pupil at Rosebery - an inspiration to us all.

The annual event had more than 600 participants and our school was part of a group which sang at Forge Wood Primary School and gave a great performance.

The singing was spectacular and all the children gave their very best on the day. A huge amount of effort has gone into this year’s festival and the choirs and the staff working with them have pulled out all the stops to make it successful.

Hours of rehearsal and dedication came to fruition at the event when our choir took to the stage and gave a fantastic performance for the audience and the other singers waiting to take their turn.

The GLF academy music festival raised the roof with outstanding singing and 26 schools were represented by their choirs - with singers ranging in age from Year 1 to six-formers in Year 13.

A special mention goes to Hazel Cornish, the student of Rosebery School, whose song ‘Outspoken’ was chosen to be sung by the massed choirs as a special finale to the shows.

The festival hosts this year were Aureus School, Didcot; Cordwalles School, Camberley; Glyn School, Epsom; Forge Wood School, Crawley and Whyteleafe School.
