PE & Sport Premium

What is the ‘Sport Premium’?

In April 2013 the Government announced new funding of £150 million for Physical Education (PE) and Sport – often referred to as a ‘Sport Premium’. Since then, the Sports Premium has doubled and the Government has pledged to continue this funding until 2020.This funding is to be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and Sport provision.

Salfords Vision for P.E

Salfords Primary School believes that physical education, experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is vital and unique in its contribution to a pupil’s physical and emotional development and health.

At Salfords we are committed to using this resource to develop high-quality PE lessons, alongside greater opportunities for sporting competitions and clubs for all our young people.

  • Increases self-confidence through an ability for children to manage themselves successfully in a variety of situations.
  • Offers a balance of individual, team, co-operative and competitive activities for all children.
  • Endeavours to provide appropriate, stimulating, challenging and enjoyable learning environments for all pupils.
  • Promotes an understanding of the many benefits of exercise, through a balanced range of cross-curricular activities offered.
