GLF Schools

GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

The School Day

The day begins when our children come into school between 8.40am and 8.50am when the doors are monitored by a member of staff.

All children enter via their external classroom door, with the exception of Year 2, Kingfishers and Herons who enter via the nearest door to their classroom.

Registration lasts from 8.50 - 9.00 and children complete morning tasks like maths of the day or spend some time looking back at their work from the day before.

Over the morning children have English and maths and then reading or phonics depending on their age and stage of learning.  Playtime for Y1, Y3 & Y4 is at 10.15pm and Y2, Y5 & Y6 is at 10.30am for 15 minutes. Lunch starts at 11.45am for Reception 12.00 pm and 12.15 pm for the KS1 children and 12.30 pm for the KS2 children.

Afternoon lessons start at 1pm and 1.15pm for infants and 1.30pm for the juniors and cover the wider curriculum. These include Spanish, computing, music, art and design, design technology, history, geography, RE and PE.  On a Monday after lunch, Mrs. Christer leads a certificate assembly and on a Friday Mrs Regnard leads a Headteacher's Star assembly.

School finishes at 3.10 pm every day and parents meet their children on the playground. The infant teachers take the children to their parents and wave them goodbye. In KS2, the older children often walk home or meet their parents on the playground.
