  Falcons4Falcons1Falcons3Falcons2

Welcome to Year 6!

In Year 6 this year, our teaching team consists of Miss Dawkes and Miss Rahmen (SCITT trainee teacher) in Falcons, and Mrs Reynolds and Mrs Balls in Eagles.  The team are also joined by Miss Radford this year to support the children with their learning. The children will be immersing themselves within our new GLF projects which focus on a learning question:

  1. There is only one way to design an effective product. Support or Challenge? (The children will construct an electric litter picker)

  2. Why were shelters important in WWII? (The children will construct a WWII shelter)

  3. How has the “current” industrial revolution impacted the solutions to engineering problems in the modern day? (The children will build protective casing which could safely transport an item to space and back again)

  4. Early Islamic Civilisation (The children will create a book demonstrating the Early Islamic Civilisation and Baghdad bounds with a cover inspired by Islamic Art)

  5. Evolution (The children will create stop-animations demonstrating evolution)

  6. A chosen country in Asia or Oceania (The children will compare the human and physical geography of a country and compare it to the UK)

Our P.E day is Wednesday and children need to come to school in their full PE kit.

Our Spelling test day is Monday. Children will be given 10 spellings every week to learn and then be tested on these 10 and 2 more which fit the spelling pattern.

Year 6 have CGP books as their weekly home learning (on top of spellings and daily reading). They have a CGP book for Reading, Maths and Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling. The children are given designated pages each Thursday and are expected  to complete everything set, ready to mark their learning in class the following Thursday.

Year 6 children complete the statutory end of KS2 assessments between Monday 13th May and Friday 17th May 2024. Further information about these assessments will follow later in the academic year.

For all other class information please see Class Briefing link below.

Finally, we would like to thank you for the continued support you give as parents to our Year 6 children and Salfords Primary School. Our pupils try to show as many school values as possible on a daily basis because they aspire to be great role models for the other children!

If you ever have any queries or questions, please do not hesitate to contact either class teacher.

Thank you and 'Be your best'!
