GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Statutory Results

We are a high achieving school.

Our statutory results reflect the dedication and passion of our staff, who work tirelessly to provide the best education for every child. We inspire our pupils through engaging lessons and support them to reach their full potential.

We are proud of our children’s achievements and the progress they make each year. You can find our latest statutory results below.

Key Stage 2 SATs

At the end of Year 6, your child will take national curriculum assessments in English grammar, punctuation and spelling, English reading and mathematics. The tests help measure the progress pupils have made, and identify if they need additional support in a certain area. Each child will receive a school which will identify if they have met the Expected Standard for the end of KS2, achieved a Greater Depth standard, or have not met the end of year 6 standard. Your child’s writing is assessed by the Year 6 teaching staff and the leadership team. This information is used as part of the transition meetings with their secondary schools.

The KS2 SATs take place in May each year. The children’s results are released in July.

We were delighted with our most recent SATs results for Year 6 where our pupils achieved well above the National Average for the expected levels in Reading, Writing and Maths.

Phonics Screening Check (PSC)

During your child’s education at Salfords Primary School there will be a strong emphasis on phonics and early reading, in Reception and Year 1. At the end of Year 1, your child will participate in the Phonics Screening Check which is designed to assess your child’s phonics knowledge. This takes place in June each year.

Phonics is an effective way of teaching children to read where they are taught how to:

• Recognise the sounds that each individual letter makes

• Identify the sounds that different combinations of letters make - such as‘sh’ or ‘oo’

• Blend these sounds together from left to right to make a word

Children can then use this knowledge to ‘decode’ new words that they hear or see. This is the first important step in learning to read.

The phonics screening check contains 40 words divided into two sections of 20 words. Both sections contain a mixture of real words and pseudo-words. Pseduo-words are words that are phonically decodable but are not actual words with an associated meaning.

Children are given a score out of 40 and those who have not met the standard in year 1 (32/40 in 2023), they will re-take the check in year 2.

Multiplication Tables Check (MTC)

When your child is in Year 4, they will participate in the Multiplication Tables Check in June each year. The purpose of the check is to determine whether your child can fluently recall their times tables up to 12, which is essential for future success in mathematics. It will also help your child’s school to identify if your child may need additional support.

The MTC is an on-screen check consisting of 25 times table questions. Your child will be able to answer 3 practice questions before taking the actual check. They will then have 6 seconds to answer each question. At a later date, the school will be able to see your child’s score out of 25.There is no pass mark for this check. Reception Baseline Assessment (RBA)

When your child joins Salfords Primary School in Reception, they will participate in the statutory Reception Baseline Assessment between week four and six of their schooling. It became statutory for all schools from September 2021.

The purpose of the assessment is to provide the starting point for a progress measure that will help parents understand how well schools support their pupils to progress between reception and year 6.

The RBA is a short, interactive and practical assessment of your child’s early literacy, communication, language and mathematics skills when they begin school, using materials that most children of your child’s age will be familiar with. It will provide a helpful snapshot of where your child is when they enter reception, so they can be supported in the most appropriate way.
